Enter the Constraints

Finally you will need to define your allocation constraints profile:

Quick definition of required Input variables:

  • Reserve (%) - Enter the amount of reserve you want to set aside for this Infrastructure.

Reserve (%) more information: The Reserve Capacity is typically used for resource peaks, spikes and server maintenance cycles Common Industry Averages are typically between 20-30% > 30% level is more conservative, but does contribute to more capacity under-utilization < 20% level is more aggressive, but does contribute to more potential congestion

  • vCPU / Machine - Enter the Average allocation of vCPUs per virtual machine

vCPU more information - Based on industry averages: Between 1 to 5 Higher CPU Responsiveness =1 Lower CPU Responsiveness = 5

  • Machines / Core - Enter the amount of virtual machines you would allow to share 1 physical core

Machines more information - Based on industry averages: Between 5 to 10 Lower VM Ratios = 5 Higher VM Ratios = 10

Enter the Infrastructure Costs (Optional)

Quick definition of required Input variables:

  • Term LGTH (MTH) - Enter length of time in months you expect to use this Infrastructure

  • Total Cost - Enter the total Capital cost of the Infrastructure, including Hosts, Storage and Network

  • Monthly Cost - Enter the total additional monthly costs you need in order to run this Infrastructure
